The case of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is affecting the quality of Ukraine’s Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Secretary General Lamberto Zannier has said, according to Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"There are certain issues that a country chairing the OSCE has to address. I, for one, sincerely welcome the steps taken regarding certain political figures that were imprisoned, particularly Yuriy Lutsenko, the former interior minister, with whom I worked on a number of OSCE projects. Obviously, the issue of Tymoshenko remains and Ukraine has to deal with this issue on its own. It is a matter of rule of law," Lamberto Zannier said in an interview with Radio Svoboda.

The OSCE secretary general believes Ukraine, "as the current Chair of the OSCE, an organization that supports the rule of law and human rights, must consider the matter of Yulia Tymoshenko openly."
