The Ukrainian government must release Yulia Tymoshenko before the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius if the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement is to be signed, Chairman of the Swedish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Sofia Arkelsten has said, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"The signing of the agreement will not be possible without the timely and complete fulfillment of the given terms. We are particularly concerned by the lack of progress in resolving the issue of Yulia Tymoshenko, her release and rehabilitation," Sofia Arkelsten said during a meeting today with Hryhoriy Nemyria, the deputy head of the Batkivshchyna Party and chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration.

The meeting took place during the conference in Stockholm on Political Prisoners and the Council of Europe. They discussed EU-Ukraine relations and the Eastern Partnership summit that will be held in Vilnius later this year.
