President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso hopes that the “Eastern partnership” summit, planned on November 28-29 in Vilnius, will be successful.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this at joint news conference with President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė today.

“ I hope that the summit in Vilnius will be successful. I expect a fruitful discussion concerning a range of agreements on association with our Eastern partners”, - said J. Barroso.

In her turn, the President of Lithuania noted that the “Eastern partnership” is very important for the EU, because the point is in neighbours.

Speaking about that in a context of relations with Ukraine, the President of Lithuania noted that she would like to see further approaching of Kyiv to the European integration  and reminded about three main groups of tasks, which should be fulfilled by Ukraine for signing of Agreement on association with EU.

“The first one is solving of selective justice and the case of Tymoshenko. The second one is a judicial reform, which concerns primarily the Prosecutor office. The third one is an electoral reform, in particular, adoption of a single Electoral code, including for solving of problem concerning municipal elections in Kyiv”, - said D. Grybauskaitė.

“We would like to see concrete results over all groups of problems, otherwise, it will be very difficult to sign an agreement”, - said D. Grybauskaitė.
