Leading members of the European People’s Party (EPP) have expressed concerns about recent political developments in Ukraine, according to Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"We urge the Ukrainian authorities to implement the necessary conditions set up by the Foreign Affairs Council in December 2012, including the release of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the adoption of the appropriate laws by the Verkhovna Rada, in order to have the Association Agreement signed in Vilnius," reads a joint press release issued by Wilfried Martens, EPP President, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, EPP Vice President, MEP, and President of the EPP Group within Euronest, Elmar Brok, MEP, Chairman of the AFET Committee and EPP coordinator for foreign affairs, and Anca Boagiu, EPP Vice President.

The EPP members also reiterated that success in Vilnius depends on the respect for European standards and called on the Ukrainian government to "reverse its current negative path before the Vilnius Summit."
