Yatseniuk was elected on post of Verkhovna Rada Speaker
227 lawmakers voted for him
Arseniy Yatseniuk has been elected as Verkhovna Rada Speaker of Ukraine of the sixth convocation. 227 lawmakers voted for his candidacy.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, journalists were told about this by lawmaker Bohdan Hubskiy, who went out of the room, where a calculating commission was holding a session.
Before the announcement, BYuT leader Yulia Tymoshenko said to journalists she was convinced that the candidacy of A.Yatseniuk would be supported by at least 226 lawmakers.
A member of the counting commission, who later came to journalists, also confirmed that A.Yatseniuk was elected with 227 votes.
