Elmar Brok: Yulia Tymoshenko’s trial was political – she should be released

The Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, Elmar Brok, is urging the Ukrainian government to execute the decision of the European Court of Human Rights and release Yulia Tymoshenko from prison immediately, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"The case of the Ukrainian opposition leader Tymoshenko is a symbol of selective justice in Ukraine," German’s KNA cited Elmar Brok as saying.

The head of the EP committee stressed that the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights must be implemented.

The KNA report also notes that "the trial against Yulia Tymoshenko gained global attention two years ago. The EU and United States criticized it for being politically motivated."
