Eugenia Tymoshenko: government must implement ECHR ruling
The Ukrainian government must implement the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and release Yulia Tymoshenko, the ex-premier’s daughter, Eugenia Tymoshenko, has said, according to Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"The whole world unanimously supports my other and is demanding her immediate release," Eugenia Tymoshenko said today after visiting her mother. "These aren’t just statements by NGOs and politicians, there are statements based on the completely legal judgment of the European Court, which is the highest legal authority for Ukraine as a member of the Council of Europe. Therefore, the government should implement the ECHR decision and release her."
The ex-premier’s daughter is hoping for justice in the case of her mother. "They illegally took away two years of her life, two years of political activity. But, in spite of everything, she continues to be more active than before," she said.
Eugenia Tymoshenko said that the day her mother was jailed was a horrible day, a "shock for everyone", but she and her family felt then and continue to feel today the support of the ex-premier’s "colleagues and political allies" around the world.
Eugenia Tymoshenko also said that for the first time in two years, Yulia Tymoshenko was allowed a visit today by fellow party members Arseniy Yatseniuk, Arsen Avakov and Serhiy Pashynsky. "I think it will be tremendously important for her today to be able to talk with them and feel their support in this tragic date for us all," Eugenia Tymoshenko added.
