The President hopes for more constructive work of the Parliament in the course of the new session, according to the Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych.

“Populism has never brought dividends to any politician. As soon as deputies with such a disease understand it, the Parliament will become more constructive,” the Head of State noted in his interview to Ukrainian TV channels.

“There is no other country with such approaches in the Parliament. Unfortunately, it is a shortcoming but I believe that it will be minimized in the future,” Viktor Yanukovych said.

The President also advised deputies to resort to the world experience of parliamentarianism.

According to the President, deputies must protect the interests of their voters for “these people were elected by voters, our voters”.

Moreover, the President expressed hope that the forthcoming Presidential elections would not be a barrier to the stable work of the Parliament. “Ambitions on the forthcoming Presidential elections cannot affect the Verkhovna Rada’s work,” he said. “We will work. The approach will be creative,” the Head of State added.

He also stressed the necessity of developing cooperation between the President and MPs. “The work of the Parliament is the most important thing. Not President, but the country needs it. I have already mentioned that the main principle of the government is to improve the life of people,” Viktor Yanukovych said.
