President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych called all the factions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to unite around adoption of European integration laws and modernization of the Ukrainian economy.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this at an opening ceremony of the 3rd session of the VR of the 7th convocation.
“I offer all the parliamentary forces to find an understanding concerning solution of two key strategic tasks”, - underlined V. Yanukovych. He noted that the first one and the most urgent issue of this session of the VRU is adoption of laws, which will promote a movement of Ukraine in the European direction.
“It is a homework, which the Ukrainian parliament should fulfill on the eve of Vilnius summit in order Ukraine can sign an Agreement on association with the EU and broadened agreement on free trade area with the EU”, - noted V. Yanukovych.
He also underlined that attempts to contrast a cooperation with EU with “our strategic partners – the Russian Federation and countries of the Eurasian commonwealth – are groundless”. He believes that signing of agreement with the EU will open new opportunities for cooperation in Eurasian direction.
Moreover, the President noted that it is necessary to accelerate implementation of economic reforms in Ukraine, reforming of judicial systems, prosecutor’s office bodies and interior affairs bodies.
