German Chancellor Angela Merkel is urging the Ukrainian government to fulfill the requirements of the European Union for the signing of the association agreement at the summit in Vilnius, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"We explained to Ukraine that for the signing of the agreement, democracy, rule of law and civil rights must be something more than words," Angela Merkel said while speaking today in the Bundestag bout the Eastern Partnership summit.

The German Chancellor recalled that there are only 10 days left until the summit and that there is no certainty that Ukraine will manage to fulfill the requirements of the EU by December 10, 2012.
