Ukraine not to sign Agreement on association with EU at Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius - Kwaśniewski
Ukraine will not sign Agreement on association with the European Union at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius late this month.
Member of the Monitoring mission of the European Parliament in Ukraine, ex President of Poland Aleksander Kwaśniewski said this, Polish TVN24 reports.
“Agreement will not be signed at the summit in Vilnius”, - he said, commenting on today’s decision of the Ukrainian government to suspend preparation for signing of this document.
“In fact – it is a request to make a break in negotiations until all economic issues in Ukraine will be solved”, - he added.
Aleksander Kwaśniewski also said that he will submit a report on work of the mission in Ukraine the next week.
“The mission is coming to an end. Unfortunately, it is over without such final as a signing of the agreement”, - he said.
Kwaśniewski also stressed that “this is a decision of the Ukrainian government, not Europe”.
