Barroso holds telephone talk with Yanukovych to emphasize settlement of tense situation in Ukraine in way of dialogue – EU Mission

President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso held a telephone talk with President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych in order to emphasize a necessity of political settlement of the current tense situation in the state in a way of dialogue with the opposition and civil society.

The EU Mission in Ukraine disclosed this to UNIAN.

Barroso reminded of necessity to respect civil freedoms and show a maximal restraint. He also said that High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will arrive in Kyiv this week in order to support seeking for ways out of the political crisis.
