Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Carl Bildt said that a package of controversial laws adopted by representatives of majority of the ruling party in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by show of hands is the most repressive legislation that any parliament in the European Union has ever adopted for ten years of existence of the union.

According to an UNIAN correspondent in Brussels, Bildt said this before the sitting of the Council of the EU at level of foreign ministers.

“It is important that we have reacted to the package of repressive laws that was adopted on Thursday in Kyiv. It is the most repressive package of laws that any parliament in the European Union has ever adopted for ten years of existence of the union. I believe that the events that took place yesterday are the consequences of this package of repressive laws that were adopted on Thursday”, - said Bildt.

“These repressive laws are changing the way we should do business with Ukraine. I believes that negotiations between authorities and opposition are to take place in Kyiv now, but we, probably, should react to the package of these repressive laws”, - he said.
