The European Union will allocate 11 billion euros of financial aid to Ukraine over the next couple of years.

EU is ready to give money to Ukraine

According to an own UNIAN correspondent in Brussels, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso said this after the special sitting of the Commission concerning Ukraine.

“The most urgent priority of the EU is contribution to a peaceful settlement of the current crisis, with a full respect to international norms. Parallely the international community should mobilize for rendering assistance to Ukraine for stabilization of its economic and financial situation. Today the European Commission offers a package, an aim of which is to help devoted, wide and oriented on the reforms government in development of stable and prosperous future of Ukraine”, - said Barroso.

“What we are offering: at least 11 billion euros over the next couple of years from the budget of the EU and international financial institutions that are in the EU”, - added the President of the European Commission.

He noted that the financial aid package has short and medium term perspectives.
