The European Union does not recognize and will not recognize annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russia Federation, and the leaders of the EU will agree a joint European answer to this step of Russia at their summit at the end of the week.
According to an own UNIAN correspondent in Brussels, it is said in the joint statement of President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
“Sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine should be respected. The European Union does not recognize illegal and illegitimate referendum in Crimea and its results. The European Union does not recognize and will not recognize annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation”, - it is stressed in the statement.
