Party of Regions leader, head of the oppositional government Victor Yanukovych hopes to “come to power” in the nearest future to keep on his course of reforms, started in 2006.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Victor Yanukovych claimed this at a meeting with U.S. Assistant State Secretary Daniel Fried.

Victor Yanukovych noted that Ukraine has many achievements, and, despite the political cirisis, which occurred in 2007, “we managed to keep the economics”.

At the same time, he expressed a regret that the government failed to continue the course of reforms, which were started in 2006.

According to him, the program of his government, which was worked out with the assistance of international experts, remained unfulfilled. “We hope that we will fulfill it when we come to power in the nearest future”, he said.
