Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych believes that the big privatization, which was kicked off by the Yulia Tymoshenko’s government, is connected with the upcoming regular presidential election.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv today.
“Instead of serious solving economic problems, the government became busy with the hyper-privatization. Their goal is clear – to prepare to the presidential election and buy electors’ votes. We should speak openly about that. They want to sell more enterprises during a year than over the whole period of the independence”, Victor Yanukovych said.
The Party of Regions leader turned attention to the fact that the government is carrying out the privatization without any clear strategy, and on the basis of the program, which was adopted as early as in 2000. “The legislation stipulates adopting such a program once every three years. The Cabinet of Ministers regards the privatization only as a source for covering the budget deficit and financing populist projects”, Victor Yanukovych said.
He believes that due to the privatization of the Odessa Pre-Port Plant, Ukraine will loose its positions at the world market of nitrogen fertilizers.
