Party of Regions front-runner Victor Yanukovych states that the initiative to pay off compensations for depreciated Soviet-era deposits in 2008 belongs to his government.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv today.
“I will disclose you a small secret. When the draft state budget for the year 2008 was discussed, we proposed to increase volumes of funds, stipulated for paying off compensations for the depreciated deposits”, Victor Yanukovych said.
According to the Party of Regions leader, last year his government accumulated funds to pay off compensations, to implement this initiative in 2008. “Unfortunately, we did not have time to do that, and our idea was right in 2008, but it was spoilt, because they decided to pay off the compensations without thinking about the economics”, he said.
