The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft framework agreement on military cooperation with the Turkish government, Ukraine's defense ministry reports.

The signing ceremony is planned to be held during President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Turkey, scheduled for October 15-17.

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran has been authorized to seal the deal.

The agreement will create a legal basis, the minister says, for expanding and deepening the existing Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in the field of defense and launching cooperation in more than 20 fundamentally new topical areas.

"Our interaction with our Turkish partners is extremely dynamic. Just this July in Kyiv we discussed working nuances with Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar – and now there's a finish line. This interaction, I repeat, reflects the strategic nature of our relations and mutual disposition to ensure peace and security in Black Sea-Azov region," Taran said.

The Minister of Defense also noted that the Ukrainian national security strategy recently approved by the President defines Turkey as one of Ukraine's strategic partners.
