Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed hope that a vaccine against COVID-19 will become available in 2021.
He mentioned this during talks with Federal President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen in Vienna, according to the Ukrainian president's press service.

"We are ready for mass production of the vaccine when it is created. We offer our capacities for this all the time. In Ukraine, such offer came from two private enterprises. We very much hope that the vaccine will become available in 2021," Zelensky said.
The two presidents discussed measures taken by both states to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and overcome its negative consequences.
They also stressed the importance of coordinating international efforts for medical and social protection of citizens.
Coronavirus vaccine: Latest developments
- According to the World Health Organization, around 700 COVID-19 vaccine trials are being conducted worldwide.
- On August 4, Chief Medical Officer Viktor Liashko said Ukraine could receive about 8 million doses of the vaccine as part of the COVAX Facility, which will cover 20% of its population.
