Russia begins the withdrawal of troops, which took part in military exercises in occupied Crimea and near the borders of Ukraine, to their permanent bases in the Southern and Western Military Districts.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the Russian Defense Ministry was completing a combat readiness check of military units, as reported by the Russian RBC news agency.

The withdrawal of troops will begin on April 23.
