Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused the local authorities of sabotaging government decisions on quarantine-related measures amid the COVID-19 epidemic.

"It is clear the local elections are also making their own adjustments. The local authorities want to please voters, they sabotage government decisions and hold concerts for many thousands on the city day. This is a good cop in the regions vs a bad cop in the capital city game. Just keep in mind that perhaps the number of votes for you in your region will be higher, but the number of those infected and dead will weigh on your conscience," he told members of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, during an annual State of the Nation Address on October 20.
