The population in Ukraine decreased by 21,000 people in January 2018 compared to December 2017 and amounted to 42.365 million people as of February 1, 2018.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, 302,000 children were born in Ukraine in January 2018, while in January 2017 this figure amounted to 305,000 children. Some 236,000 people died in January 2018, while in January 2017 the decline was 276,000 people. At the same time, the number of people who arrived in the country exceeded the number of those leaving the country by 2,175 people. In January 2017, this figure was 1,421 people.
