Seventy-five Ukrainian UN peacekeepers return home from Congo
Some 75 Ukrainian peacekeepers from the 18th separate helicopter unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces returned to Ukraine from Congo.
"The first plane has arrived in Lviv with 75 Ukrainian peacekeepers from the 18th separate helicopter unit of the Armed Forces who carried out a peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for a year," the Ukrainian Land Forces reported on Facebook.
"Over this period, the military carried out about 3,000 combat sorties and transported over 13,000 passengers and over 520 tonnes of various cargoes. The crews of Ukrainian Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters took part in several operations of the UN mission, in particular, provided air support for ground troops, medical evacuation of victims, and air reconnaissance at hostile areas," reads the report.
