Militants attempt to destroy new bridge over Severskiy Donets River
Anti-government militants have continued to attack Ukrainian soldiers in the Luhansk region, and have attempted to destroy a newly-built bridge, the press service of the North Operational Command told an UNIAN correspondent on Wednesday.
"The targets for destruction by the Russian enemy troops were the strong points of the mechanized brigade, which were under mortar attack for about two hours near the villages of Krymske and Frunze," the press service said.
In addition, the Russian mercenaries shelled a checkpoint of the mechanized brigade near the village of Trehizbenka. They also fired for 45 minutes with artillery at a Ukrainian-held bridge on the Severskiy Donets River that was recently built by military engineers of the Operational Command.
As reported earlier, Ukrainian military sources claim Russian troops and militants have intensified their attacks in the Donbas conflict zone after receiving ammunition delivered to the Donbas by Russian humanitarian convoys. The most difficult situations are still seen in Debaltsevo and Donetsk, military blogger Dmytro Tymchuk said on Wednesday in a posting on Facebook.
