Fighting in conflict zone intensifies, with three soldiers killed, four injured
Fighting in Ukraine’s Donbas conflict zone has intensified over the last 24 hours, with three Ukrainian soldiers being killed and four wounded, Ukrainian television’s TSN news program has reported.
"Anti-government militants fired Grad rockets at the villages of Tonenke and Orlivka, while mortars were fired at the village of Chernukhyne with its civilians, and Ukrainian forces near Avdiivka, Pisky and Nikishyne."
There has also been fierce fighting in Donetsk and its suburbs, with the insurgents firing on residential districts near the city’s Putylovskiy bridge, TSN said.
The militants have also stepped up their daily attacks on Donetsk airport, using anti-tank guns in addition to small arms and rocket-propelled grenades.
The militants on Thursday launched a five-hour attack on Donetsk airport, with one Ukrainian soldier being killed in the fighting.
