Ukrainians are celebrating Europe Day, which appeared in the country 15 years ago and is celebrated every third Saturday of May.

"Europe – it has long been not just a geographical category. First of all, these are the common values of independence, democracy and respect for a person and his rights and freedoms. And the Ukrainians, no doubt, are a European nation that has made its civilizational choice: at least 70% of our citizens support the idea of Ukraine's accession to the European Union," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

Poroshenko expressed his confidence that "Ukraine will definitely become a member of a large European family."
