Ukrainian forces shoot at militants' drones over Mariupol
Ukrainian forces have fired on two reconnaissance drones operated by Russian-backed militants that appeared over the government-held city of Mariupol, the headquarters of the Anti-Terrorist operation reported on Monday, according to the local news agency 0629.
"Two drones were flying above sector M (Mariupol) tonight. The first drone appeared at about 2400, and the second one appeared at about 0500. They were fired on at once," the report reads.
There have been frequent reports of the Russian-backed militants in the east of Ukraine using drones to reconnoiter Ukrainian defensive positions. They have also used jamming equipment to bring down drones operated by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Ukraine (OSCE), which was using them to monitor the border area as part of its mandate in eastern Ukraine.
