Over the last day Russian-backed insurgents have violated the ceasefire nearly 50 times, including another attack on the airport in Donetsk, which was repulsed by Ukrainian forces, the press center of Ukraine’s Anti-Terrorist Operation headquarters reported on Thursday on its Facebook page.

"The most active enemy forces were in the directions of Pervomaysk, Luhansk, Donetsk and Debaltseve," the report reads.

In particular, the press center said the situation remains tense in the following villages: Popasne, Zolote, Hirne, Chornukhyne, Frunze, Stanychno-Luhanske, Krymske, Shchastia, Peredilske, Verkhnia Olkhova, Triohizbenka, Olkhove, and Makarove.

There were attacks in Donetsk region in the villages of Avdiivka, Vesele, Novokalynove, Novomyhaylivka, Pisky, Opytne, Krasnohorivka, Khimik, Berezovyi, Poltavske, Shumy, Maloorlivka, Orlovo-Ivanivka, Nikishyne, Kamianka, and Debaltseve.

"The ATO forces acted effectively in the defense of strategically important objects near the airport of Donetsk. Ukrainian ‘cyborgs’ successfully repulsed the attack of the insurgents," the press center reported, using the nickname given to the Ukrainian soldiers who have been grimly defending the airport from militant attacks for months.

It was also reported that there have been no military actions by the insurgents near the strategic southern port city of Mariupol.

"Our forces have carried out search-and-destroy operations in certain areas to contain and destroy illegal armed groups of Russian-backed insurgents," the press center said.
