Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov says ammunition and new weapons of Ukrainian production were successfully tested at Honcharivske testing ground north of Kyiv.

According to him, the production of ammunition that had not previously been manufactured in Ukraine was launched as soon as possible under the decision of the NSDC of Ukraine, the agency's press service said.

"An important phase of testing the scarcest 152mm projectiles, as well as 60mm mines for new Ukrainian mortars has been completed," he said following the tests, adding that two modifications of the new 60mm and 82mm mortars were also tested while "safety performance of 120mm mortars" was checked.

Turchynov also informed that during the tests, all ballistic characteristics were checked by "a unique modern complex," a mobile radar system of trajectory measurements able to track the trajectory of not only shells, mines or rockets, but even bullets.

Turchynov also stressed the tested ammunition and artillery weapons "were produced by both state and private enterprises, which ensures transparent competition to improve their quality and, accordingly, reduce their price."

"I'd like to emphasize that all tests have been completed with an excellent grade. Ukrainian weapons and ammunition showed compliance with the given characteristics and will be soon employed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will considerably increase our Army's firepower," he said.
