"Due to the recent statements by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army General Valeriy Gerasimov, I would like to remind you of the day of the [first] appearance of Russian troops in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," he said.
"It was in March 2014 in the Donbas, after the occupation of the Crimea. At that very moment the first Russian soldiers came to the east of Ukraine, without any invitation," Selezniov said.
"The Russian military has repeatedly recognized this after [their soldiers] were captured by the Ukrainian armed forces." he said.
"The presence of a group of Russian military headed by the Deputy Chief of the armed forces of the Russian Ground Forces, Lieutenant-General Aleksandr Lentsov, is the result of the implementation of the Minsk Protocol, which has been also signed by the representative of the Russian Federation," Selezniov said.
"A joint working group of the center for control and coordination of the ceasefire and the gradual stabilization of the line of demarcation in eastern Ukraine, including representatives of Ukraine, the monitoring group of the OSCE and 76 servicemen of the Russian armed forces, began its work on September 26," he said.
The working group is responsible for the implementation of all measures for the establishment of a complete ceasefire. It is tasked with monitoring the ceasefire during the period of stabilization of the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
