Among many foreign medics who had volunteered to provide their skills in support of Ukraine, Professor Girsch came to operate alongside his Ukrainian colleagues on the country’s soldiers wounded in fighting against Moscow-backed insurgents in Ukraine’s east.
As the number of the heavily wounded grows, the “International Association for the Support of Ukraine” charity organized the visit, realizing that soldiers would be more effectively treated locally by Western doctors, Ukraine Today informed.
The Austrian volunteer is skilled in performing orthopedic surgery for reconstructing bones, muscles and nerves, using the patient’s own tissues.
