Mobilization in Ukraine to start on January 20
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on mobilization and sent it to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian news broadcaster TSN reported on Wednesday.
According to the president, he took the decision to sign the decree after the aggravation of the situation in the Donbas.
The mobilization will be held in three waves. The first will begin on January 20, the second in April, and the last in June. The mobilized servicemen will serve in the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
According to the Defense Ministry, the recruits have to be trained and make a combat coordination before they will be sent on active duty.
As reported earlier, Russian-backed militants have recently increased their attacks on Ukrainian troops, and the lives of Ukrainian civilians have also been lost in the fighting.
