New President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Chief of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko and appointed Ruslan Khomchak to this post.

Relevant presidential decrees No. 301/2019 and No. 302/2019 of May 21 were posted on the president's website.

"To appoint Khomchak as Chief of the General Staff — Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Decree No. 302 says.

Lieutenant-General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Khomchak, born in June 1967, has served as chief of staff of the land forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since 2016.
