US paratroopers to begin training Ukraine army in April (Video)
In the wake of talks between Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, there are to be joint military exercises in Lviv region involving at least 290 paratroopers from U.S. 173rd Airborne Brigade, with combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, and 900 Ukrainian troops.
After the training is complete, Ukrainian soldiers will receive ammunition and communication equipment as part of the aid program, Ukraine Today reports.
Ukraine's Interior Minister Arsen Avakov confirmed that the U.S. paratroops will train the personnel of Ukraine’s National Guard starting April 20.
Thirty-five military trainers from the UK earlier began a two-month mission in the southern city of Mykolaiv.
