"The budget allocates UAH 72 billion (US$2.9 billion) for the implementation of the medical guarantee program in 2020. The government approved this program in November [2019]. The former government called it 'money follows the patient,'" he told the HARD with Vlashchenko TV program on Ukrainian TV channel ZIK.

Radutsky said 50 medical and diagnostic procedures (in particular, ultrasound, X-ray, biopsy, surgical treatment of stroke, childbirth, etc.) would be free for Ukrainians within the framework of medical guarantee programs from April 2, 2020. He added the full list of these free services could be viewed on the website of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU). At the same time, this refers to medical institutions that have signed an agreement with the NHSU.

The lawmaker added that funding for the National Prescription Drugs Cost Reimbursement Program had been increased by UAH 3.2 billion (US$132.9 million) in 2020.

"These medicines... the state pays their cost, and people get them free of charge by e-prescription," Radutsky said.

He added the detailed program and the list of medicines had been posted on the Health Ministry's website.
