No COVID-19 coronavirus cases registered in Ukraine – health officials
To date, no cases of COVID-19 coronavirus have been registered in Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko told a Kyiv briefing Monday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"To date, not a single case has been registered in Ukraine, not a single positive sample has been detected showing the presence of coronavirus," he said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, at the end of December, Chinese authorities reported an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown origin in Wuhan.
The causative agent of the disease was a new type of coronavirus, COVID-19. The virus is transmitted from person to person, with the incubation period lasting about two weeks.
On January 30, the World Health Organization declared an international emergency in connection with the spread of coronavirus from China.
As of February 24, some 79,360 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 were registered across the world, of which 2,619 were fatal.
