Zelensky updates on the situation in Ternopil region / president.gov.ua

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions have been hit by the coronavirus crisis hardest, and they are priority destinations for future medical supplies from China.

"The next supplies from China will be primarily sent to Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions, where the situation is difficult," he said in a video address posted on Facebook on Friday evening.

He also briefed on the situation at a local hospital in Monastyryska district, Ternopil region, after hospital workers and local residents said in a video address to the president that the hospital was poorly provided with protective gears for doctors and with medicines.

"There were talks with the health department. The medical staff is complete now and continues to work. I thank them for this. As of now, the hospital has four ventilators. The local department will buy more [equipment], a respective tender has been announced via ProZorro [an online system for public procurement]", he added.

According to him, medical workers are provided with protective suits and respirators for the coming days, work continues to supply everything they will need.

"The issue of sufficient supplies to hospitals in the region, in particular Kozova district, is being resolved. For this purpose, Chief Medical Officer Viktor Liashko has set off toTernopil today," the president said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Ukraine had risen to 1,072 by Friday evening.
