Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov says the demand for lung ventilators has been fully covered in Ukrainian hospitals as of today.

The top health official says, since March 1, a total of 176 ventilators have been additionally purchased and delivered to hospitals where COVID-19 patients are hospitalized.

"This number is constantly growing. But today we are fully covered with ventilators," he said during an online briefing, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 27, Ukraine's Deputy Health Minister and Chief Medical Officer Viktor Liashko said there were about 350 ventilators in hospitals that receive COVID-19 patients first, as well as almost 3,500 in re-profiled hospitals.

The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Ukraine stood at 4,662 as of Friday morning. Of them, 501 cases were reported in the past 24 hours. A total of 125 COVID-19 deaths have already been recorded in the country. Some 246 patients have recovered.
