Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that 150 people have already died of the novel coronavirus in Ukraine.

"The statistics are true, as it is: We have a little more than 4,500 patients now, of whom 150 are fatal [cases]," he said on a Ukrainian TV channel on April 17.

As UNIAN reported earlier, there were 4,662 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as of 9:00 a.m. Kyiv time on April 17, according to Ukraine's Health Ministry. The death toll was 125 people, 246 patients have recovered.

Some 501 new coronavirus cases, including almost a hundred doctors, were confirmed from 09:00 a.m. on April 16 to 09:00 a.m. on April 17. Fifty children were among the new cases.
