The Prosecutor’s General Office of Ukraine has brought a formal charge against ex-Interior Minister of Ukraine Vassyl Tsushko on the case of seizing the Prosecutor’s General Office on May 24, 2007.

      According to an UNIAN correspondent, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin claimed this to a press conference on Wednesday.

“The investigation into the case concerning the developments in the Prosecutor’s General Office has practically been closed. Ex-Interior Minister V.Tsushko is accused of committing a crime. V.Tsushko is accused of misuse of office and interference into activities of law-enforcement agencies”, R.Kuzmin claimed.

According to him, as of today, a PGO investigator is in Russia, where V.Tsushko is staying. He is carrying out the respective investigative activities, with the assistance of the Ukrainian Embassy to Russia.

R.Kuzmin noted that V.Tsushko is undergoing a medical treatment in one of Russian clinics.

“Nevertheless, he expressed a desire to collaborate with the investigation, but at the Russian territory. The Ukrainian legislation allows that”, R.Kuzmin said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, several criminal cases were brought on the fact of seizure of the Prosecutor’s General Office premise, committed on May 24, 2007. One of these cases was brought against then-time Interior Minister Vassyl Tsushko. On September 30, 2007, V.Tsushko sent in his resignation due to the state of his health.
