President Victor Yushchenko put flowers near the monument to Ivan Mazepa, which is situated in Mazepyntsi village, Kyiv region. According to the President`s press-office, other participants of the ceremony were deputy Presidential Secretariat Chief of Staff Yuriy Bohutsky, Kyiv Regional Administration head Vira Ulyanchenko, Deputy Ivan Plyushch, local authorities representatives and Cossacks.

The officials also took part in a service at St. Nicholas chapel, built in a village by members of modern Ivan Paliy Cossacks host. President Yushchenko presented the chapel with icon “From Jesus Christ to Jerusalem”.

After that President went to Andriyivka village, where he took part in consecration of memorable cross on a burial mound Mazepa’s Tomb and planted snowball trees at the site.
