Govt plans to increase inflation forecast for this year from 9.6% to 15.3-15.6%

The government plans to increase this year’s inflation forecast from 9.6% to 15.3-15.6%.

A source close to the National Bank Council has disclosed this to UNIAN.

The source noted that, most probably, the NBU Council will recommend to raise the discount rate.

On April 10 a source from the government disclosed to UNIAN that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was going to increase the inflation forecast for 2008 to 14.3%.

Ukraine’s central bank said on Monday it would raise its discount rate to 12% from 10% as of April 30 to curb a sharp rise in inflation in recent months.
