President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has intent to cancel the government’s resolution on placing the Odessa Pre-Port Plant and Ukrtelecom under the government’s authority.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Deputy President’s Chief of staff Oleksander Shlapak claimed this to a press conference today.
“In my opinion, which was shared by the President, this [placing the companies under authority of government] was another step, destroying the state property management system”, O.Shlapak said.
He noted that, as of today, the Cabinet of Ministers cannot legally control stocks of these companies.
According to O.Shlapak, the decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers by means of a poll, and, in particular, the Ministry of Justice did not support it. “The President is categorically opposed to this decision, and ordered to immediately prepare a decree to suspend it, and to transfer materials to the Constitutional Court”, O.Shlapak said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers delegated to itself the authorities of the State Property Fund of Ukraine concerning the control over a number of companies, including the Odessa Pre-Port Plant and Ukrtelecom.
