Ukraine may renew its positions as exporter
On world grain market
In new season, Ukraine has preconditions to recover its positions as exporter on the world grain market, partially lost during 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, reported Anastasia Ivasenko at the International Conference "Grain Forum 2008" on May 26, according to APK-Inform.
At that, A. Ivasenko noted that in Russia and Kazakhstan good yield of grain is expected, and, consequently, the growth of the potential abilities of grain export. Therefore the Ukrainian traders will have to work under conditions of serious competition.
According to the expert`s estimates, the export potential of grain and grain legumes in 2008/09 season would total some 12.9 mln tonnes. The total offer of grain in 2008/09 season would be at the level of 43.7 mln tonnes, up 32.5% as compared to the current season offer. This fact determines grain import in necessary traditional volumes (seeds material and other), said A. Ivasenko.
