Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and Former Ukrainian foreign minister Kostyantin Hryshchenko may be appointed ambassador to Russia, the Kommersant business daily quoted the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry as saying. According to NEWSru, referring to its source in the Russian foreign ministry, Moscow agreed to the candidacy of K.Hryshchenko, 55, who served as the ex-Soviet state`s top diplomat from September 2003 to February 2005 in the government of former Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych.

The former ambassador to Russia, Oleg Demin, retired from his post on April 4 at the age of 60.
