The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted in the first reading the State Program of Privatization for 2008-2012.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, 227 lawmakers out of 448, registered in the chamber, voted for the program.
The State Program outlines new strategies and priorities, targets and conditions of the state property privatization.
In particular, it is stipulated to complete privatization as a social-economical project of the wide-scale ownership reform.
The program outlines the following priorities of the privatization for these years: to upgrade the structure of state property in the industrial sphere, to attract buyers who have long-term interests in developing companies, to sell small and minor stakes, to sell unprofitable enterprises, etc..
The program solves tasks of upgrading the industry and improving the financial condition of state-owned enterprises.
Besides, a process of privatization planning will be introduced in line with the program.
