Tymoshenko praises government`s achievements in agriculture

“I believe that Ukraine will revive its glorious granary’s name not only in Europe but all over the world,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated during the opening ceremony of the anniversary XX International agroindustrial fair exhibition “Agro-2008”. According to the government’s press-office, she stated that the Government expects corn crop twice as many as against the previous year. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, such result became possible due to significant support of the state agrarian sphere. Yulia Tymoshenko underscored that the Government had succeeded in the 2008 State Budget to increase expenditures for agroindustrial complex by 38% and now they amount to UAH 13.1 billion.
The Prime Minister also announced that thanks to the Government’s highly professional work there is an opportunity to provide additional financing of agroindustrial sphere for the 2008 State Budget amendments. According to her, taking into account the reservation of preferential value added tax of agricultural commodity producers, the state support of AIC development and provision of the social sphere of a village in 2008 will achieve a record level – UAH 23.6 billion. Yulia Tymoshenko also stressed that due to transparent economic policy of the Government, real investment growth to the agrarian sphere in the first quarter this year increased by 15.4%.
