Oleksandr Turchynov told that the Commission had identified “practically precisely the whereabouts of every miner underground”. 9 people, according to him, were in the elevator which at the moment of the explosion snapped off at a distance of 120-200 meters from the surface and fell at a depth of 1000 meters. Another three are under heaps resulted from gas-dynamic effect. He stressed that while the rescue works continue there is hope. According to the government’s press-office, the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine told a briefing with journalists after the morning sitting of the Government Commission on investigation of reasons and consequences of the explosion at the Karl Marx mine in the town of Yenakiyevo of Donetsk region.

Oleksandr Turchynov noted that the basic problem is ruinous mine service that complicate the rescuers’ descending. “At the present, mountain-climbers are operating and an opportunity of attracting divers who could submerge to a depth of 1000 meters underwater is considered,” the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine added.

Oleksandr Turchynov also informed that tomorrow during the Government sitting it is intended to consider the state of coal sphere in Ukraine.
