Deputy President’s Chief of Staff Oleksander Chaly states that Ukraine will give an asymmetric answer to Russia in case if the latter increases its natural gas price since January 1, 2009.

He claimed this to a news conference on Friday.

“Be sure, Ukraine has a strong asymmetric answer in case if the issues of transferring to European market gas prices will be voiced, and if there will be a desire to introduce them immediately on January 1, 2009”, O.Chaly stressed.

According to him, the issue of transferring to market gas relations at the post-Soviet space “implies not only a rise of gas prices to a market level, but also the rise of all other components of gas relations, including the gas transit, and the problem of gas storing and transporting”.
